J. Vignier 2012 "Les Longues Verges" Grand Cru Brut

So, this parcel has a funny name and it’s a unique parcel at that, because it straddles the two Grand Cru villages of Cramant and Chouilly. “Verges” is an old French unit of measure, about 50 meter long, which predates the use of the metric system and hectares. This 100% Grand Cru chardonnay Champagne is an impressive first offering from this site and shows the great potential of Nathalie’s care at the estate now. The wine displays aromas of lime zest, fennel, ginger and jasmine. The palate is long and very juicy and the emphasis is certainly on the steely minerality found in Grand Cru Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs. This was harvested at 11° Baumé, fermented in enamel and has 5 grams dosage with cane sugar. It was disgorged in December, 2015. Only 3500 bottles were produced.
