Markus Altenburger 2012 Blaufränkisch Leithaberg DAC

Sometimes Markus’ Leithaberg is a blend of different sites, but in 2012 it is all from the Steinäcker vineyard. The grapes were hand harvested in the middle of October, destemmed, mashed and fermented in stainless steel. After malolactic, the wine was moved and aged in 1600L wooden casks for twenty-two months. This wine is brambly, juicy and shows its limestone soil with a mineral cut. Only 2800 bottles were produced.
