Before Clos Rougeard purchased their legendary Chenin parcel on the hill of Brézé, the white wine from this iconic domaine was produced from the venerable “Les Poyeux” vineyard. Today, Les Poyeux is almost exclusively planted to cabernet franc but Fabien’s mother's family still owns a tiny 7 acres of chenin and, as far as we know, he is the only person making a single parcel bottling of Les Poyeux Blanc. The wine is fermented and aged on the lees in new, one and two year-old oak barrels. The resulting wine captures the unique, delicate limestone signature of the vineyard. The wine is bright and resonant and dangerously delicious. Only 12 barrels were produced.
