Element Winery 2011 Riesling
If I were to try and link Finger Lakes riesling to an old-world corollary, I would look to Alsace and not Austria. Certainly not Germany, though many producers in the region seem to want to emulate a German style with a touch of residual sugar. Christopher’s riesling is aged for two years in stainless and then several more years on cork, so our current release is this 2011. It has aromas of apple and lemon with a hint of wintergreen. The palate is structured with more acidity than expected, given the broadness of the aromas and flavors and a slight waxiness.
