Julia Bertram 2016 Ahrweiler Spätburgunder

Julia’s village spätburgunder, Ahrweiler, rivals any village wine from the old world. Her goal is ripeness and density, but also freshness and length. She want’s “vibrating wines,” and this wine has all of that and more. It mainly comes from the Rosenthal (sand with quartz, loess) and some small parts Forstberg (sand and loess), and one parcel in Daubhaus (loam). Strawberry, raspberry and sweet cherry aromas interplay with wood smoke and brown spices. The palate dances with fruit and acidity overlain on a structure of ripe tannin.
