Domaine René Lequin-Colin 2016 Santenay "Vieilles Vignes"
A blend of three plots in Santenay, this old-vines pinot noir over-delivers in every way. To the east of the commune is “Champs Claude” with vines 70+ years old; closer to Chassagne is “Les Hates” with vines 50-55 years old; and “Clos Genet” where the vines are 40-45 years old. François believes that “Les Hates” brings structure and the other two sites bring finesse and fruitiness. The wine is full of red fruit brightness with a base note of darker fruits, all on lattice-like structure that carries the wine to a long finish.
