Untermoserhof

Alto Adige | Bolzano

Florian and Georg Ramoser are the tight father-son team behind a sharply focused set of wines from schiava and lagrein. Untermoserhof, the Ramoser family home and winery that dates to 1640, sits just above Bolzano. Steep slopes, challenging varieties, and the Ramosers’ dedication to minimal-input farming demand rigorous handwork in the vineyards. Their concentration on old vines, dense plantings, controlled yields, and thoughtful cellar work is bringing exceptional results — dense, spice-tinged lagrein and vivid, inflected schiava.

Untermoserhof 2017 Lagrein DOC

This lagrein is 100 % destemmed after which fermentation takes place in 2500L neutral oak casks for roughly 15 days. Pump overs are conducted twice a day until the must is nearly dry, in attempt to softly extract tannic structure. The wine is then racked into simlar 2500L oak barrels where it remains for 8 months.
