Fritsch

Wagram | Oberstockall

Karl Fritsch farms his Wagram estate biodynamically, believing great wine starts in vibrant, living soils. After taking over in 1999, he implemented biodynamics and co-founded respekt, Austria’s leading biodynamic growers’ group. His wines—mainly Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Noir, and Roter Veltliner—reflect the deep loess and rocky soils of Wagram’s plateau. From sites like Schlossberg and Steinberg, Fritsch crafts expressive, terroir-driven wines with minimal intervention, guided by lunar rhythms and a deep respect for nature.

Fritsch Roter Veltliner 2024

Roter Veltliner is Wagram's iconic variety. Unrelated to Grüner Veltliner, Roter Veltliner is yet the parent to many other vinifera throughout Europe.

When thoughtfully farmed (Biodynamically in the case at Fritsch), this wine shines as a refreshing aperitif that is lively with fruit and acidity.
