Antico Broilo 2018 Schioppettino di Prepotto DOC

This grape variety traces its history in Friuli back to the 13th century, when schioppettino represented about 75% of all plantings, since that time the variety nearly vanished until brought back by 1970s advocates in Prepotto, where it exists almost exclusively today. Broilo’s expression comes from vines in excess of 50 years of age farmed organically on alluvial soils. The grapes are macerated in open tank before native yeast fermentation is finished in neutral French barrique. The wine is bottled with minimal sulfurs after 18-20 months of elevage in neutral barrique.
