Cyrille & Sylvain Paquereau are part of a new movement in the Pays Nantais that is reviving a true understanding of both their variety, melon de bourgogne, and the precise set of soils in which it thrives. They represent the fifth generation of their family to work this 16th-century estate, in the heart of Clisson. Conversion to organics and concentration on the precise match of grape to terroir distinguish their tenure. The range at Domaine de l’Epinay focuses on melon’s terroir transparency, aided by spontaneous fermentations, minimal added sulphites, and up to 36 months lees aging in underground cement tanks.

Domaine de l'Epinay 2019 "Primula" Sauvignon Blanc

We are excited to introduce this new sauvignon blanc to the Schatzi portfolio. When in the Loire it has been our mission to secure a value-oriented sauvignon blanc that is organically grown, handled with genuine care and drinks well beyond its price. We tasted through scores of wines from Touraine and other satellite regions and just couldn't find what was obvious as the right one. Then we tasted with our Muscadet producer, Sylvain Paquereau. Sylvain presented a basic sauvignon, “Primula”, and we knew instantly it was the perfect fit for what Schatzi needed. This wine is certified organic, fermented and raised in cement and completely dry. It’s floral and fresh and distinctive and so easy on the price tag.
