Pascal Doquet

Champagne | Côte des Blancs | Vertus

With holdings of old vines in some of the greatest terroirs in the Cote des Blancs, Pascal Doquet has emerged over the last decade or so as one of the premier vignerons in Champagne. He originally took over his family estate Doquet-Jeanmaire in 1995 and after his father retired, Pascal established his eponymous domaine in 2004. Today he farms just under 9 hectares of vines including prime parcels in Le Mésnil-sur-Oger, Vertus, and Le Mont Aimé.

Pascal Doquet Grand Cru Brut

This is not a typical Doquet wine, but it’s fascinating and delicious. It’s 100% Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger from “Champ d’Alouettes” and “Les Migraines.” Pascal did not make a 2003 Le Mesnil-sur-Oger vintage wine, but instead harvested it at 11.5° Baumé, blocked malolactic during fermentation, and then blended it with 2002 and 2001 as the base for this cuvée. It then spent ten years sur latte and was disgorged in 2014 with 7 grams MCR—so, it now has two years on the cork. It is a mature chardonnay Champagne displaying sandalwood, brioche and ginger.
