Dr. Heger 2013 Ihringer Winklerberg Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs

This pinot noir macerates for 21 days with pigeage twice daily. The wine is settled for 2-3 days before it is racked by way of gravity into new barrels; the wine is never pumped or filtered. Whereas the limestone Merdinger Bühl displays classical black cherry aromas, the volcanic soils of the Winklerberg tend to be driven by bright red fruit—cranberry and raspberry. Tobacco, chocolate and brooding mineral structure.
