Mosel Terraces | Bremm

Angelina and Kilian Franzen’s story is every bit as moving as their wines. Today they have 5 hectares in the Calmont and additional holdings in the venerated Neefer Frauenberg and Kloster Stuben vineyards. Vines are up to 90 years old, their roots driven into the terraced slate, giving immense concentration to the wines. Fermentations are spontaneous, the wines go through malo, and GGs are bottled late. All this accounts for wines of that are as much about texture, herbaceousness, and salinity as they are fruit. They display remarkable freshness and animation as well as density and echoing length.

Franzen 2024 "Der Sommer War Ser Groß"

"The Summer Was Very Great" combines the best from the steepest vineyards of the Franzen estate: the fruitiness and finesse of the grey slate in the Neefer Frauenberg vineyard, as well as the spice and minerality of the red slate from the Bremmer Calmont vineyard. A dry Riesling with balanced acidity, a lean to medium body, and clear minerality.

On the nose, subtle apricot, but predominantly green apple. On the palate, the wine is clear and precise, with a fine mineral note and elegant structure.
