Knebel

Mosel Terraces | Winningen

Matthias Knebel has become synonymous with the revolution in German wine quality. His fidelity to painstaking, handwrought viticulture in the unique landscape of the Mosel Terraces yields extraordinary results across his range, from a ridiculously undervalued village bottling to the magnificent GGs. The wines, from one of the most dynamic yet overlooked regions in Germany, deliver unadulterated intensity with an emphasis on texture, minerality, purity, and superb finesse.

Knebel 2019 Riesling

With Matthias’ entry into the VDP in 2016, he felt the need to up the quality at the estate, and this basic riesling is no exception. It used to be sourced from the Terraces, but also parcels upstream in Leiwen. Now this is all sourced from the Mosel Terraces in and around Knebel’s home of Winningen. The wine is spontaneously fermented and aged entirely in stainless.
