La Vecchia Posta

Piedmont | Colli Tortonesi | Avolasca

The vines of La Vecchia Posta sit high in the Colli Tortonesi amid the gentle foothills of the Ligurian Apennines. Here Roberto Semino cultivates 3.5 hectares of vineyard dedicated to native grapes of the Piedmont, where the Tortoniano soils are ideally matched. Roberto was among the first to farm organically in Italy starting in the 1980s. Spontaneous ferments, few to no added sulphites, allow for the pure expression of the high hills and their proximity to forest, mountain, and sea.

La Vecchia Posta 2021 Barbera "La Ligera" Colli Tortonesi DOC

From a vineyard planted in 2000, abandoned and then changed hands several times. Now in the capable, organically managed hands of Vecchia Posta. It's a knoll that slides towards the south-west, the uncultivated and the woods. A land rich in fossils and minerals.
