La Vecchia Posta

Piedmont | Colli Tortonesi | Avolasca

The vines of La Vecchia Posta sit high in the Colli Tortonesi amid the gentle foothills of the Ligurian Apennines. Here Roberto Semino cultivates 3.5 hectares of vineyard dedicated to native grapes of the Piedmont, where the Tortoniano soils are ideally matched. Roberto was among the first to farm organically in Italy starting in the 1980s. Spontaneous ferments, few to no added sulphites, allow for the pure expression of the high hills and their proximity to forest, mountain, and sea.

La Vecchia Posta 2020 Dolcetto "Teraforta" Colli Tortonesi DOC

“Teraforta” Dolcetto takes its power from the clay-rich soils dolcetto loves, and its freshness and perfume from Roberto’s well-ventilated, high-elevation sites. Grown here dolcetto becomes a high-toned expression with remarkably fresh acidity each vintage. The wine is spontaneously fermented in stainless, on its skins, for roughly a week before being racked to finish malolactic in stainless steel where the wine ages an additional 6 months before bottling. No sulfites are added.
