Vino Gross 2022 Haloze Noir

In a neighboring region to ours, Dolenjska, there is a long-standing tradition of fermenting white and red grapes together to create a light, rosé-like red wine known as Cviček. The name Cviček is protected and may only be used for wines produced in the Dolenjska region. Although often regarded with skepticism and consumed mostly locally, this unique style holds a certain cultural charm. We are now reviving this age-old practice — with a fresh perspective and the aim of crafting something more refined and distinctive.

A tightly woven nose with lots of dark fruit such as blueberries and blackberries, floral tones of violets and black olives. No frills, but enormously complex. Ethereal notes of rosemary lend the wine a freshness. The acidity is very dancing on the palate. Juicy like sour cherries with a fine structure and slightly nutty tannins. Flint and spice linger on the finish.
