Jean-René Germanier 2018 Syrah "Cayas"
Syrah in Switzerland? Yes, the Rhône River starts here, and the Germanier vineyards are in the Valais Rhône River Valley with soils of river stones and deposits of glacial moraine. The grapes take 70 days from veraison to harvest, afterwards it is cold-soaked, fermented with ambient yeast and aged for two years in oak. Often regarded as a rival to the more famous cru syrah wines of the Northern Rhône.
