Heinrich Spindler 2017 Jesuitengarten Riesling Grosse Lage
In the 1828 classification, this was regarded as the second best site in all of the Pfalz following the Kirchenstück. Here, the typical riesling expression is very intense and tropical: grilled peach, mango and cassis with herbs of mint and tarragon and a slight smoky salinity. This wine also typically shows more "sponti" aromas than any other of the GG sites from Spindler. This wine is not to be missed. Grapes for the Jesuitengarten Grosse Lage are harvested by hand and macerated for ~6 hours each vintage before being fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel. Elevage is carried out in neutral oak stückfass for 6 months with light battonage.
